Cat Age Calculator
A 1-year-old cat is roughly a 15-year-old person, and a 2-year-old is like a 24-year-old. After that, each cat year counts as about 4 human years.
How the calculation works
This follows the chart used by the American Association of Feline Practitioners and most vets: 15 human years for the first cat year, 9 more for the second, then 4 for each year after.
human age = 24 + 4 × (cat age − 2), for cats over 2

Frequently asked questions
How long do cats live?
Indoor cats commonly live 13 to 17 years, and many reach 20. Outdoor cats have shorter average lives because of traffic, predators and disease.
How can I tell a cat's age if I don't know it?
A vet can estimate from the teeth, eyes, coat and muscle tone. Kittens can be aged quite precisely by their teeth; adults only within a few years.
